he New 7 Wonders of the World campaign was a resounding success, in which more than 100 million votes were cast and which took democracy to a new global level. Now, the second campaign organized by the non-profit New7Wonders Foundation, to choose the New7Wonders of Nature, is off to a promising start: Some 200 nominations were submitted by some half a million people within the first few months of the campaign.

Voting for nominees will continue through 31.12.08. Then, a panel of experts will create a list of 21 candidates from which voters worldwide will elect the New7Wonders of Nature. The New7Wonders Panel of Experts, under the leadership of Prof. Federico Mayor, former Director-General of UNESCO, will select the 21 Finalists from the top-ranked Official Supported Nominees (to ensure the fairness of the process, the names of the Panel of Experts will be released after their decision has been made). The 21 finalists will then be put to popular vote.

Most of you have probably already heard that the next “Harry Potter” has been moved back from November 21, 2008 to July 17, 2009. Now Summit is taking advantage of the wide-open playing field by moving “Twilight” into HP’s deserted timeslot.

SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT MOVES UP RELEASE DATE FOR TWILIGHT TO NOVEMBER 21, 2008

Los Angeles, CA August 15, 2008 — TWILIGHT, the first film in Summit Entertainment’s thriller romance franchise, has moved up its North American release date to Friday, November 21, 2008. The film, which was previously planned to be released on December, 12, 2008, is taking advantage of an opening in the upcoming fall release calendar. The new release date for TWILIGHT allows the studio to both bring the film to the written-series’ enormous fan base sooner, and to present the film in more theatres prior to the holiday movie-going season where traditionally screen time for any popular film is limited.

“When Warner Bros. decided to move HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE to the summer of 2009, we saw a unique opportunity to slot in our film which has been gaining tremendous awareness and momentum over the past several months,” said Rob Friedman, Co-Chairman and CEO of Summit Entertainment. “We by no means are trying to fill the shoes of the incredible POTTER franchise for 2008, rather we are just looking to bring the fans of Stephenie Meyer’s incredible book series the film as soon possible from a programming perspective.”

Starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the thriller-romance based on Stephenie Meyer’s publishing phenomenon, the film is directed by Catherine Hardwicke from a script by Melissa Rosenberg (STEP UP). Karen Rosenfelt (DEVIL WEARS PRADA), Greg Mooradian and Wyck Godfrey will produce along with Mark Morgan via his Maverick Films banner.

TWILIGHT tells the story of 17-year-old Bella Swan (Stewart) who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington to live with her father, and becomes drawn to Edward Cullen (Pattinson), a pale, mysterious classmate who seems determined to push her away. But neither can deny the attraction that pulls them together…even when Edward confides that he and his family are vampires. Their unorthodox romance puts her in physical danger when Edward’s nemesis comes to town and sets his sights on Bella.

The Priests of the Sacred Heart has been a constant sender of updates and letters to our family not knowing how it even started or where they got our names and address for that matter. They send us prayer booklets, rosaries, return address stickers with the image of the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Mother Mary and the like.I even wrote in behalf of the whole batch of Les Femmes du Sacre Couer for the 100% passing of our board exams to the congregation and they replied with an assurance of their prayers.

I highly encourage SPUM BSN Batch 2008 Les Femmes du Sacre Couer to pray to the Sacred Heart and support the Priests of the Sacred Heart in Cagayan de Oro in their mission to spread the Good News. Perhaps, this could be a way to show our thanks for their earnest prayers for our batch and return the glory back to our beloved Creator.

Why Meredith Grey

I went with this over and over again and I cannot compare myself to anyone else but the famous Grey's Anatomy character - Meredith Grey. Don't get me wrong ... this is not a 'rise to the occasion' sort of stuff and not even the 'hollywood grandeur' kind of thinking. I am way past my grandiosity and I am way, way past of rising to the occasion ... because just like my dear old friend meredith grey ... it is completely the opposite. It is more like ... sinking on the occasion, six feet buried under the cold unfeeling ground.

First of all, who is Meredith Grey and I like to define who Meredith Grey is because in doing so, then it means I get to define myself. Then maybe, it would no longer be 'anonymously madz.' Sometimes I laugh over the comedy of how I got to compare myself to her. Do I have Derek Shepherd to call my McDreamy? or an Addison Shepherd to call as 'satan and an adulterous bitch?' Do I have a Cristina Yang to call as my 'person?' or perhaps someone to call me 'ordinary?' And yes, do I have a medical background at that, that requires long hours of saving lives and packing up orders or watching someone die or consoling who is left behind?

I've been keeping score and I must say I get 5 over 5 from the quiz. That's evidence enough. I say yes to all 5 questions so there it goes ... I am Meredith Grey. And in the upcoming blogs I will prove more how I am this character from the popular television series, how our lives are closely linked together, how ... when I see her cry, laugh, get hurt, get angry ... I see myself. And normally I can't see myself. But when I look at her, it feels like the genius writer who writes her lines and defines her character is directly speaking at me. I know, i know. It seems psychotic and maybe it is. But hey, it gives me the idea that somehow, in this universe, I am not alone in my line of thinking. Someone understands ... someone ... that someone who created the image of Meredith Grey.

So, yeah ... meet me ... I'm Meredith Grey. I'm Madz.
